Thank you for your interest in our chapter of ASWA.  We, the leadership of this chapter, are committed to maximizing the value you gain from your membership and participation in our chapter.  We are a diverse group with members in public, private and governmental accounting, representing the full spectrum of roles from Full Charge Bookkeepers to CPA Sole Proprietors. Students are particularly welcome. Our membership includes students from the University, Community Colleges and the Bellingham Technical College.

A primary goal of our group is to provide quality and timely educational programs to our members.  As our country is in the third year of an economic recession, people have been directly affected at home and/or work.  Our Program Committee is working on a series of speakers to help us navigate these challenging times. I am looking forward to hearing what the speakers have to say, so that we, as a professional society might take these ideas, support each other in applying them to our lives and jobs, and to prevail, even excel during these tough economic times. 

On November 15^th, 2011, we will sponsor our first ever dessert auction to raise money for scholarships. There will be a live and silent auction featuring goodies made by our own members as well as local bakeries.

I believe that it is more important than ever for us to support each other in our careers and that we continue to maintain a strong, professional network.  Our ASWA Chapter’s LinkedIn account is up and running, so if you haven’t already done so, go on and get networked! Look us up as “ASWA North Cascades #115.”

This administrative year we will also continue to share our knowledge and expertise with people in our community through a collaborative effort with Work Source in providing financial literacy classes and one-on-one meetings with the long-term unemployed.
